The Celio district is home to the Colosseum, Rome's famous iconic amphitheater that draws large crowds year-round. Also nearby is the well-preserved Arch of Constantine. Streets in the southeastern part of the district are purely tourist-oriented and include Via di S. Giovanni in Laterano, renowned for its gay-friendly stores, bars and cafes. Green areas in the area are Parco del Celio and Villa Celimontana, while the basement of the Basilica of San Clemente houses a pagan temple.

Within a short distance you can reach Piazza Venezia, the central point of Rome, Via del Corso, Piazza di Spagna and  Via Condotti for shopping. Many restaurants, bars and pubs are located in the same neighborhood.
